Yoga Class Club: August 2025

Hey Everybody,

Welcome to August in our Yoga Class Club! ☀️

Don’t forget that I’ve created a new and updated version of our Yoga Class Club in our new platform that you can now use – check it out and see if you like it here! (Log in with your JRY website info if prompted.)

This month’s mix of practices brings a little bit of everything to support you wherever you are in your practice this summer – from gentle and grounding to fiery and fun.

If time is tight, our two 10-minute warm-up flows are quick, focused movement snacks designed to wake up your body and bring energy to your day. Our gentle selections this month include a mellow, low-to-the-floor flow and a unique, somatics-based approach to wheel pose with our guest teacher Joe Miller.

Our active flow lineup offers a nice variety – including a creative flow with a playful “springiness” theme, a fresh take on hip abduction, and an upper back mobility flow that’s short, sweet, and satisfying.

And if you’re looking to level things up, you’ll find two strong flows to challenge your strength, control, and coordination – featuring fun props, dynamic transitions, and creative sequencing.

Our specialty class this month is all about lateral lower body movement – it’s a 22-minute side lunge practice designed to help you gradually build strength, mobility, and control in this often-overlooked movement pattern. If your body is craving a little side-to-side action, this could be a great one to revisit a few times throughout the month!

A couple quick reminders about the Yoga Class Club:

– Feel free to branch out and explore any other classes from the greater class library that feel right for you. This August selection is meant to offer a balanced month-long plan, but you’re always welcome to mix and match.

– You can substitute any class from the library (or even from another yoga studio or teacher, if you practice with others elsewhere too!) if something I’ve selected this month isn’t quite the right fit for you. If you’re using the Accountability Checklist (scroll down to find it), you can note your swaps there as well.

I hope you enjoy exploring this month’s collection, and as always – I’m so happy to be sharing the practice with you!

–Jenni

P.S. I’m always here in our community hub if you have questions, thoughts, or just want to say hi. 💬

Warm-Up Flows: 10-minute yoga/movement snacks

–Take each class 1x/week this month

  • Touching in on the Hips & Spinal Mobility

Touching in on the Hips & Spinal Mobility

This fun flow includes cat/cow, some potent glute targeting 🔥, and so much more! I think you’ll enjoy the way we weave our way from the ground and up to standing and back again as well.

I hope the energy you cultivate in this short practice stays with you through the rest of your day!

  • Activate Your 360° Core

    Activate Your 360° Core

This quick practice kicks off with targeted posterior hip engagement and dynamic rotational core mobilization. From there, we transition into a fresh take on bird dog for a playful core stability challenge, seamlessly integrated into a lunge-to-standing flow sequence.

I hope this focused movement snack brings energy and ease to your day!

Gentle yoga practices – when you want to move, but without a lot of effort

–Take each class once this month (and more if you need it)

  • Keep It Low Mellow Flow 4

Keep It Low Mellow Flow 4 (27 min)

I love long-ish, wandering yoga sequences that are woven together into an integrated flow, and the flow in this class is no exception! It’s mellow (which is awesome!), but we get to thoroughly move and connect to all of the major joints of the body. I hope you enjoy this appealing and potent gentle practice!

  • Finding Your Foundation for Wheel w/ Joe Miller

Finding Your Foundation for Wheel w/ Joe Miller (34 min)

Joe Miller is our amazing resident somatics-style yoga teacher! He’s a certified Feldenkrais teacher, and his gentle classes consist of paying attention to the internal experience of very gentle, but thoughtful movements. Although wheel pose is a challenging and strong asana, this class moves us toward wheel in a gentle, focused, and easeful manner. And there’s no requirement to practice “full” wheel pose during this practice at all (although you are welcome to at the end if you’d like to!).

Active yoga practices – we flow and connect to our breath, but the challenge level is moderate

Take each class at least 2x this month

  • Put a Spring in Your Yoga Step

Put a Spring in Your Yoga Step (43 min)

This dynamic flow taps into the idea of springiness – in both the arms and the legs – through grounded, whole-body movements that feel light, connected, and fun. We’ll play with subtle down dog hops, arm pushes, and transitions that invite more responsiveness and energy in your practice. Expect to move in creative ways that help you feel refreshed and uplifted by the end! 🌟

  • Hip Abduction Practice

    Hip Abduction Practice (47 min)

The hip abductors are our lateral hip muscles, and this creative flow practice tunes into this area in a variety of different and novel ways! I personally especially love the reclined twist/hip abductor fiery move – you’ll see what I mean when you try it!

  • Quick Upper Back Mobility Flow

Quick Upper Back Mobility Flow (33 min)

This class is a potent way to dive into upper and mid-back mobilizing (i.e. the thoracic spine region), while also moving our whole body in a fun flow! My spine and shoulders always thank me after this practice, and I hope yours do too!

Strong flows (optional)– when we really want to level up the challenge!

Take each class 2x this month if your body wants a more fiery practice

  • Evil Blanket Class

    Evil Blanket Class (33 min)

This fun class challenges us to control our movements as our hands or feet slide across the floor on a yoga blanket (or towel, wash cloth, paper plates, etc.!) I sequenced several complementary moves together into an intentional flow. I had a lot of fun creating this class, and I hope you have fun practicing to it!

  • Vigorous Vinyasa Flow 5

Vigorous Vinyasa Flow 5 (43 min)

This is a great and challenging practice that’s themed around a cool transition between navasana (boat pose) and pigeon pose. I’d just make sure that you’re comfortable in traditional pigeon pose as a suggestion for taking this class! (Because we utilize our pigeon pose mobility in this fun flow.)

Specialty class (optional)– a yoga class with an extra specific focus

Take this class 1 or more times this month if this specialty focus feels relevant for your body!

  • Improve Your Side Lunge

Improve Your Side Lunge (22 min)

This month’s specialty class targets the side lunge – a movement pattern that blends hip mobility, lower body strength, and control. This practice is designed to gradually guide you toward more depth and ease in your side lunge, whether you’re newer to the shape or working toward a full Cossack Squat. You’ll use props like yoga blocks or a low seat to meet yourself right where you are, with options to build up over time. If lateral movement feels useful for your body 😃, try returning to this practice a few times this month to see how it evolves!
